I want CANDY!!

Good Morning !

I wanted to share with you a project I created more than 4 years ago. I have been asked to bring these cute candy bottles back again for this year.

Difficulty level: Easy

You can find these bottles at all your craft stores in different shapes and sizes. These are fairly inexpensive and come in many shapes and sizes. You can also recycle bottles that were heading for the recycling center. Just make sure the inside is very dry before you add your candy.

The corks serve two purposes. First to keep the candy fresh and second to attach the wire decorations. The wire you choose needs to be easy enough to bend but also hold it's shape.

For the labels I purchased some cute stickers that looked like wrapped candy. I reused bottle caps and added paper stickers then covering them in Mod podge dimensional magic. Add a few ribbons, fill with candy and Voilà! Hope you have fun making these. I would love to see yours.....Post your pics :)

Happy Birthday To Me !

Good Morning!
Another birthday usually includes the word UUGH and the comment from the Barista "Have a happy birthday mam." Mam? When did I become a mam? If I told you, that would give away my age even though some of you already know. This last year has had so many great moments, new friends, great opportunities, and successes that I am looking forward to my new number in life.

There has been some technical difficulties at Mixed media art and they are a tad bit behind in posting my articles. No worries :) I will share a post from another member of our great team of artists.

Having a great day planned with family and some creative time later tonight. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday that is filled with laughter, creativity, and a big cup of coffee. Yes...my coffee addiction has returned.

So Many Projects, So LittleTime

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Have got to have coffee this morning! I have not had coffee for over a week while recouping from some stomach thing. Is she alive? Right? A little caffeine and I should be buzzing around in no time.

I am eagerly awaiting my next article to post in Mixed Media Art so that I can share it with you. All I can say is Halloween. But you probably already figured that out since it's an obsession with me this time of year.
So, on my way to "a coffee shop" for a little joe and perhaps something pumpkiney (is that even a word?)
So much playing going on in the studio this morning. LOVE IT!

My Guilty Indulgence

It's true to say that art supplies come before food in my world. I can't wait to try a new product or technique. I  am always looking for anything that can give me that spark of inspiration.

Art magazines are my guilty indulgence. With everything the internet has to offer I shouldn't need to buy an art magazine, right? (There is the guilt chiming in) There is something about having it in my hands and not on a screen. I am the same way with books. Anyone else with me?

This months guilty indulgence

Even though it took me almost to the end of the month to give myself permission to purchase it, it was worth it! Right now I feel like that little girl with her first big box of crayons.

So if you have been putting off getting that creative magazine because it was too expensive here is a tip. Joann fabrics takes coupons toward the purchase. YEAH!

Mystery of the recycled bottle caps revealed

I had so much fun creating with bottle caps today!

On some of the caps I used cute Halloween 3d stickers and outlined the inside edge around the image with some glitter paint. On other caps I cut out an image, glued it in the bottle cap, then when dry sealed it with Mod Podge dimensional magic.

Here are a few samples of what I wound up with. Feel free to try out these ideas for yourself.

Child's flower headband, necklace on a cord with
skeleton head and potion bottle, spider pin, and 5 magnets.

Close up of the magnets

Small Halloween metal pail

 So there you have it!
Another great reason to drink up those beverages......
for the bottle caps of course.

Bottlecaps, beads, and ribbon.... OH MY!

Good Morning!
Have some running around to do before I get back in my studio today.
Well who doesn't like a little teaser of what's to come?
Today I thought I would work on recycling bottle caps from my local creative reuse store into some fun ?????

Well I can't give it all away!

Stay tuned!
